TARANTO SAIL GP - ITALY SAIL GRAND PRIX - 23-24 September 2023

TARANTO SAIL GP - ITALY SAIL GRAND PRIX - 23-24 September 2023

SailGP returns to Taranto for the second time! After the success of the 2021 edition of the Italian SailGP, in 2023 the F50 catamaran sailing World Championship will return to the City of the Two Seas for the Italian stage of the world championship.

SailGP will land in Taranto once again, also with the aim of launching a collective challenge for the future of the planet. Through the #raceforthefuture programme, SailGP is the first sports organisation to produce climate-positive events, offsetting more than the carbon footprint generated by staging the championship, championing a world powered by nature with the ultimate goal of accelerating the transition to clean energy.

The “SailGp – powered by nature” is the sailing championship that races for a better future, promoting a world powered by nature. The flagship competition for F50 catamarans, SailGp features national teams competing on short, intense courses in stadium-racing style regattas on the most iconic waters in the world.

The winner of the second SailGp season will receive a one-million-dollar prize. Across the season’s eight events, the best athletes in international sailing compete aboard identical, high-tech, high-speed F50 catamarans capable of exceeding 50 knots (around 100 km/h).

SailGp 2021 Taranto, the Race Village

The SailGp Race Village in Taranto will be set up on the seafront, at the historic Rotonda Marinai d’Italia, in the heart of the city, a location with a breathtaking view over the Mar Grande and a perfect spot for the SailGp spectator area. Set up in partnership with Cantine San Marzano and complete with a refreshment area, the Race Village will be free to enter and, in compliance with anti-contagion rules, will let visitors follow live commentary of the races and attend the crews’ prize-giving ceremony.
